MEN BEHIND THE SUN

AKA: man behind the sun. 731 squadron.

1988

JAPAN

DIRECTOR: T.F.Mous

A truly harrowing film that details the experiments that the japanese performed on the chinese in their quest to develop a deadly bacterial plague during world war 2.Some of the horrific sights on offer include a young woman who has her hands frozen solid then plunged into hot water untill the skin just hangs off the bones,it is then torn off like a rubber glove.A man is placed in a decompression chamber and the pressure is increased untill his body expands and his intestine explodes from his anus and snakes across the floor, and in another graphic scene a young boy is put to sleep and an autopsy is performed on him and his still beating heart is removed. Both this and the decompression scene are said to have utilised real corpses and as far as i know that statement is generally assumed to be true. But even those scenes cannot out gross the extremely disgusting site of a real cat getting thrown into a room full of hundreds of hungry rats and right before your eyes you see it being eaten alive,no effects in this scene and its doubtful you will be able to sit through it.

Despite all this the film is actually quite well made and the acting is pretty decent as well, and the fact that what you see in this film actually happened makes it even harder to watch. Its simply put one of the most graphic, nasty and horrific films ever made but if you think you have the stomach for it then its worth checking out.Its safe to say though that this film wont be released in the uk in any shape or form,if your a hardcore gore fan then track it down but if your a fan of mainstream horror like scream or i know what you did last summer then you best stay well clear.
