Deodato made this film a few years before he directed cannibal holocaust, and if you have seen any of the other cannibal films then you will have a pretty good idea what will happen in this one. It follows pretty much the same formula but amazingly this film never made the official nasties list even though it includes some fairly graphic gore and the usual round of real animal killings. Me Me Lay looks as sexy as ever in her role as a female cannibal, and overall the film is pretty good. The version on this tape was the same as the B.B.F.C X rated cinema cut but even this would stand no chance of getting a release today without many other cuts to remove the animal cruelty.
